Welcome Total E Bound author, Nancy Adams...

Hi Nancy! Great to have you here and to be a part of your ongoing tour. It's been a while since we last spoke so I'm looking forward to hearing what you've been up to and all about your latest release. Let's get started...

Happy Halloween! Thanks very much for having me today Rachel.

1)   Did you set any goals for 2013?

You mean beside making sure my flying monkeys get regular exercise! *wink*

You bet! More exercise for myself…Check.  Finish off and submit the shifter novel I’ve been working on…Check.  Begin the next book in my Out of Time series… Check.  Write at least 500 words a day…Check.  Try my hand at writing a novella and find better tasting gluten free recipes…No Check YET. Although, I have say the novella is proving easier than finding those recipes.

2)   Who or what has been your biggest influence as a writer?

My family is a huge influence.
Exhibit A:  Laughing.
When we all get together, it’s a complete Gong show, but fun because I love to laugh and that’s all we seem to do.
I really love laughing.  Sometimes I’m laughing with people, sometimes I’m laughing at people, and sometimes I laugh when I’m by myself. Yes I might be slightly twisted but I promise you it is in a fun loving way…maybe!
With all that laughing going on, I realized that humor is a must for me.  So, jokes or cheeky one-lines always seem to find their way into my manuscripts.

3)   How long does it take you to write a 50,000-60,000 word manuscript?

It depends on what is happening in my life at the time. It takes about 6 - 7 months to get a manuscript pounded out, sometimes longer because my novels are usually over 80,000 words, but I have been a very good girl when its comes to my 500 words a day, so maybe this time it will be shorter. *fingers crossed*

4)   Tell us about a new author you’ve recently discovered

I have recently discovered Canadian Author, Eve Langlais. I saw her Alien Mate book for sale on iBooks and bought it on a whim. I don’t usually read novellas but I just loved it! It was funny with a quirky spin and she has a wonderful imaginations.  I’m hooked.  I’ve read the other books in the series and have now moved on to some of her other books.

5)   Name two romances you’ve read more than once

Only TWO!!!
I guess I’ll tell you my faves, Lightening by Dean Koontz and Ransom by Julie Garwood.  Both of my hardcover books look as though they seen active combat they’re in such bad shape. lol

6)   Tell us about your first car

LOL OMG where to do begin!!
My first car was actually my brothers’ first car.  Our Uncle gave it to him so he could drive to college.  But…when Johnny went to Vancouver Island in the summer for the Navy Reserves, the grey beast became mine.

Okay now picture this…a 1978 4-door, V-6, Le Mans.
It was painted with aluminum grey arena paint ( you know that rust proof paint they use on the inside of ice rinks.) Yeah, I’m not kidding. My dad had leftover  paint from a job and gave the beast a new paint job. lol That stuff was awful, it would snag any light weight material and rip it. But there wasn’t one ounce of rust on the car.
What else… oh yah! The back driver’s side door didn’t open and the inside panel would fall off if you hit it to hard. The back passenger door would sometimes open and when it refused, my friends would have to climb through the front door over the bench seat to get in to the back.
And this is the best part…when you honked the horn the interior light would go on. LOL That was the best car and it went like stink too boot…or *cough* or so I was told.

7)   Where can we find you?

BLURB:

Standing on the battlements of a 16th century Keep was the last place Gabriel Sutherland should be. Then again, being ‘shifted’ to 1503 seconds before a rocket blew his ass to bits wasn’t something he had envisioned either. Still, he was surviving the only way he knew how, as a soldier. Then Lilly arrived. Sweet, innocent Lilly. For a genetically superior soldier whose life had entailed of nothing but serving King and country, the arrival of Lilly proves too much for Gabe to ignore. For the first time in his life, Gabe can have a woman of his own and Lilly is the one.

Lilly Marten lives alone, her quiet life the result of a highly sensitive photographic memory. That changed when she arrived in the year 1503 seconds before Toronto’s popular C.N Tower came crashing down on top of her. Now she was never alone. Gabe was always near. With his unbelievably perfect features and intense green eyes, he is not a man easily ignored. Yet, uncertainty about her new life leaves Lilly with no choice but to put faith in a man she fears and whose strong physical presence causes her to desire more than just his trust.

EXCERPT

She took a sip of the tea—her head was beginning to throb again with the mere idea of being back in the past. If this was really…real, she had hundreds of other questions.

She blinked, her vision clearing. “Now that I know the where and when, I’ll ask about the how. How did I get here?”

Gabe’s golden eyebrows pushed together. He clasped his hands together, sighing. “I can tell you how you got here in general terms, but not the mechanics of it. I don’t fully understand how he’s able to do it.”

Lilly took in the details of his handsome face and knew from his intense stare that not a single detail would slip past him, that he was aware of everything that surrounded him.

“You were brought here by a Time Shifting Interval System.”

“What’s a Time Shifting Interval System?”

“Basically, it’s a fancy name for a time machine. You felt the wind, didn’t you? The mini twister?”

She sat up straighter, her eyes widening. “Yeah!”

He nodded. “That’s the TSIS. From what I understand, it produces the whirlwind. It’s that whirlwind that tracks and locates a target—in this case, you. Once you’re inside, it locks you into place so you can’t slip out of it, then pulls you from one time to another.”

“So that was why I couldn’t get away from it. Every time I moved, it followed me.”

He nodded. “I was told it locks you in place to read your genetic structure, so it can put you back together in the right order at your destination point.” He paused, then cocked his head a little to the side. “It took you while you were at work?”

She took another sip of tea and swallowed. “I had just gotten there and was talking to my frie—To my manager,” she corrected herself. Looking into the cup, she remembered the overwhelming feeling she’d had as Stacey left. Had it been coincidence, or part of this time shifting thing?

Welcome erotic romance author, Kimberly Dean...

Blurb:
Greed and lies bound them together, but will the truth tear their love apart?

When Elena Bardot suffers the backlash of a Ponzi scheme orchestrated by her father, she retreats to the abandoned estate of his partners in crime.  Wolfe Manor is lush and private, a perfect place to lick her wounds – until the notorious prodigal son returns.  Disgraced billionaire Alex Wolfe is aloof, imposing, and sexy as hell.  Elena knows she shouldn’t want him, but attraction overrules her head.

Life behind bars has changed Alex.  He doesn’t have time for the complication of a gorgeous little brunette – especially one with her name – but the tension between them escalates.  Lust overwhelms their resistance, and the sex is hot and cathartic.  They’ve both been betrayed by family, hurt by society, and cast as villains.  Alone together, they take solace in slow kisses and sensual nights.  Yet while Elena may be content to hide from the world, Alex is driven to reclaim his place atop it.  This time, he’s determined to take her with him.

PG Excerpt
Someone was stalking around the property and, from the way he moved, he was up to no good. For a moment, he stepped into a space where the branches were bare and she could see him more clearly. He wore a fleece jacket with the hood pulled up over his head. His feet were swift and sure as he moved along the path with hardly any sound.

Elena took a step back.

Someone was trespassing. A photographer? A journalist? Something worse?

Her heart began racing.

Quickly, she evaluated her options. There was a fishing spot down on the shore not far from where she was. From there, another trail ran right along the edge of the lake. She could move quickly there. It was the shortest path back to the cabin.

She watched the figure and the silent way it moved until the gray sweatshirt blended in again with the fog. Keeping her steps quiet and her breaths quieter, she took the fork in the path that would take her away from him. Only the way was slick. She slipped once and had to catch a sapling to keep from falling. By the time she made it to the clearing along the lake, her legs were quivering.

She stepped over a fallen log and bent at the waist to take a steadying breath.
It choked off in her throat when she realized she wasn’t alone.

The man with the hood stood lakeside with his back to her. As she watched, he side-armed a rock over the surface. It skipped three times before sinking into the dark depths.

Elena took a cautious step back and then another. She’d just about made her escape into the trees when the heel of her boot knocked against the fallen log. She tensed as the man turned.

And she found herself looking into Alex Wolfe’s silver-gray eyes.

She sucked in a surprised ‘Oh!’ but then her mouth snapped shut. Fight or flight caught her smack dab in the middle of the chest, but she found she could do neither. Instead, her heart beat like a drum roll as she stared face-to-face with the man she’d sworn to avoid.

She waited for him to say something, but he watched her as warily as she watched him. He was taller and bigger than her, by nearly a foot and way too many pounds, all of them muscle. He had the fleece zipped close, and it emphasized the lean mass of his body.

Elena’s mouth went dry. He was an impressive figure, yet nothing could have prepared her for the astuteness in those silver-gray eyes. It was like looking into the eyes of an actual wolf.

A hungry, sexual wolf.

Her entire body gave one delicious pulse. There was so much to see in those eyes. Hunger, anger, determination, and desperation – but the emotions were there for only a moment. He blinked and when he looked at her again, it was as if shutters had come down over his soul.

Only the hunger remained.

That was the one thing he couldn’t hide, and a muscle in his jaw ticked. He wasn’t happy to see her or he wasn’t happy that she’d seen him.

It was difficult to tell which.

She pressed her lips together, unsure of what to say. ‘Hello’ would just sound stupid. ‘I’m sorry’ was better, but she refused to say the words to a man who had more to apologize for than anyone she knew. In the end, she just nodded. She started to turn away, but he moved then, pushing off his hood.

His hair was mussed. Without the hood, the shadow of his dusty beard seemed darker. Those silver eyes were still bright, and that face… It was a face that had graced magazine covers from Fortune to Business Week to GQ, but if he photographed well, he was even more beautiful in person.

Her stomach squeezed, but this time the sensation was deeper and more resounding.

God, why did he have to turn her into mush? Why couldn’t he be smelly and hideous? It felt like a betrayal to be so attracted to him.

She wanted to step forward. She made herself take a step back down the trail instead.

‘Wait.’

Her gaze snapped up to his face. The word had been soft, but the authority made her even more aware of him.

He reached for the zipper on his fleece. ‘You’re cold.’

He shrugged the hoodie off his shoulders before she knew what he intended to do. Stepping forward, he held it out to her. She looked at the offering. It was such a simple gesture. Nothing flashy or inappropriate, but like her attraction to him, she didn’t want it.

Yet looking at the jacket made her unbearably aware of the chill that had seeped right down to her bones. The low-hanging fog had coated everything from her clothes to her skin and hair. Unlike him, she hadn’t dressed for a hike. She shivered as she looked at the fleece he was holding out to her. Her wrists ached and her fingers felt numb.

‘You can give it back to Leonard when you’re done with it.’

He watched her, those entrancing eyes becoming more guarded. Who was the wild beast being tamed here?

Elena was proud, but she wasn’t rude. She was freezing, and they both knew it.

‘Thank you.’ She took the final step forward that put her in reach. She stayed there only long enough to take the jacket. He was watching, so she sorted out the hood and the arms. Swinging it around her shoulders, she pushed her hands into the sleeves.

A fierce shudder went through her when she felt the warmth.

The heavy sweatshirt material felt soft and substantial. That, alone, would have been enough, but it still held his body heat. Her hands began shaking more as she realized just how cold she was. Her fingers were clumsy as she tried to catch the zipper. The two of them stood uncomfortably, feet apart, as she tried to start the metal tab. He’d just moved towards her when it caught. Shying away, she yanked the zipper all the way up to her chest.

It was only then that she realized another tell-tale sign she’d been giving off. Her face flared. Her nipples were hard. Their outline was clear against the light blue sweater she was wearing. The dampness made the material even more clingy, and the chill didn’t help her condition. The hard peaks were still obvious with the bulky sweatshirt covering her.

Her chin snapped up, but his head came up much more slowly.

He’d seen. Obviously, he’d seen.

When he finally dragged his gaze to her face, the heat was back. It smacked into her like the air coming out of an oven on a cold winter’s day.

Elena wanted to be angry and offended, but then she saw how he looked in his hiking boots, jeans, and gray T-shirt. He didn’t look like any billionaire she’d ever seen before. He looked like lust felt. Helplessly, her gaze scraped over him. The T-shirt was the soft kind that took the shape of whatever it was draped across, and there were all kinds of arcs and valleys she wanted to explore more. His biceps were thick, and his shoulders were wide. His chest was powerful, tapering down to a narrow waist. As she watched, the dampness in the air seeped into that dry material and the delineation of his muscles and tendons became more defined.

As did his masculine nipples.

Her mouth watered, and she jerked her gaze away. The heat in her cheeks was now a raging fire. It was time to go. With a nod, she dipped her head and turned. She didn’t look back as she walked shakily down the path that ran along the lake.
The chill coming off the water was worse, even though the air stood like bated breath. She tugged the hood up over her head and pulled her hands into the sleeves. The hoodie was way too big for her, yet the extra material was appreciated. It hung down to her thighs and bundled her up.

She shuddered again, the warmth almost hurting.

Giving in, she glanced over her shoulder. She was disappointed to find he’d turned away. Another stone went skipping along the surface of the lake. He’d forgotten her as quickly as he’d noticed her.

The ball of heat building in her belly turned hard. That was the Wolfe she expected.

Excerpt:

She stood to put her pack back on, and he came to his feet and caught her by the shoulder, not wanting it to end like this, not wanting her to leave until they were good again. When she tried to push him away, he pressed her between his body and the stone of the cliff face. ‘You can’t just shut us all out, Stacie.’

‘I never wanted you involved in the first place. I never wanted any of you involved but you couldn’t leave it alone,’ she jerked back against him but there was no place to go. ‘You couldn’t just let it go.’

He moved in closer until his body pressed up against hers, holding her tightly against the stone. ‘No, I couldn’t, and I can’t and neither can anyone else who cares about you and neither would you if the situation were reversed. So whether you like it or not, I’m here to stay. We’ve already discussed this, so get used to it.’ He punctuated his point with a harsh kiss that couldn’t have been very pleasant for her, but then he was angry, worried, scared for her. Instead of shoving at him as he’d expected her to do, she curled a hard fist in his hair and ravaged his mouth with every bit as much ferocity as he had given her, pulling him still closer, rubbing her body against his, making him instantly and startlingly erect.

She snaked a hand down between them and savaged his fly until he feared for what lay beneath, until her fingers wriggled and dug their way into his walking trousers to possess his cock with a tight grip as though it were a weapon, one she were about to use to do serious damage.

He fumbled to return the favour, with her ripping at her own fly to make room for him, to guide his fingers down over her mons. Her eyes locked his in a devastating gaze that felt as though she could see right through him. ‘I need you to touch me there.’ Her voice was a breathless whisper. ‘Where I’m wet, where I’m open, where I’m always, always hungry for you.’ Her breath caught; her eyelids fluttered and she sucked her bottom lip as he found her cleft, wet and open as she’d promised. ‘You can’t tell me you don’t want to be like those cats.’ She guided his hand still further and manipulated it until first two, then three fingers pressed up into her. ‘You can’t tell me that when I present myself to you all hot and ready and begging for it, you don’t want to service my need. You can’t tell me you don’t want to get a little primal with that cock of yours.’ She gave him a hard squeeze and drove her hand up and down his length, thumbing the already abundant pre-cum over and around the tip until he gritted his teeth and held his breath while his hips bucked hard against her efforts.

He scissored her deep with three fingers and raked the silky slickness of her up and over her clitoris, and the sounds from the back of her throat easily resembled the sounds the female cougar made when the male mounted her. They wildly, madly fucked each other’s hands. The wind had risen and even on the clear morning, the chill left no doubt about lingering for more than the quickest of releases. Then she shifted, pressed her back hard against the stone and rested both of her hands on his shoulders. Before he could protest the removal of her fingers from his cock, she wrapped her legs around his waist, her still clothed crotch rubbing tight and insanely hot against his exposed cock as she began to rock and gyrate, and it was all happening way too fast.

‘Stacie I --’

‘Shut up, Harris,’ she spoke between chattering teeth. ‘I need to come, and so do you. You can fuck me properly when we get back to the SUV. It’s too damn cold to linger.’ With each sentence she ground against him, baring down with the extra leverage the cliff at her back afforded and, almost before the words were out of her mouth, she convulsed. Her spine stiffened and her shivers had nothing to do with the cold. Harris could stand no more. He felt the eruption deep in his groin. It might have been embarrassing had the circumstances been different, but as he tried to cover himself, tried to hide the results of Stacie’s hard ride, she shoved his hand away, pushed him back and practically fell into the space between them positioning herself so that she caught his release, all of it in her mouth. What could he say to that? What could he do but hold her there, helplessly grunting the weight of his need into the back of her throat. It was an act as intimate and as primal as the cougars mating on the rocks minutes ago. And sex, any kind of sex, with Stacie Emerson was worlds apart from any other sexual experiences he’d ever had. As she stood and wiped her mouth on the back of her hand, the look of hunger in her eyes, the promise of more sex to come in the SUV before the trip home couldn’t help but lighten the mood. As they straightened and tucked and donned their packs, he wondered if that was maybe why she did it. Whatever her reason, it definitely worked for him in ways he was still trying to get his head around.

Welcome romance writer, Natasha Moore...

Hi Natasha! I am so happy to have you visit with me again and find out all about your latest release - let's get started with the questions :)

Thank you for having me as your guest today. I’m very excited about the release of Her Royal Masquerade.

Did you set any goals for 2013?

Actually, I left my full-time day job in January 2013 in order to write full-time. I started out listing all the projects I was going to write for the year and where I was going to submit them. I stayed on track for a while, faithfully following my list. But then some projects sold and some didn’t. I submitted to new places and kept writing. I made revisions and resubmitted. I got an idea for a new story and wrote that as well, even though it wasn’t on my goal list. I finally realized that while I like to write down my current projects to keep track of them, I can’t project too far in the future because there are just too many variables. But since the beginning of 2013, I’ve written two completely new novellas and sold them (one of them, Voluptuous, released Sept 6, the other, The Cottage Next Door, will probably release late in 2014), revised and sold another novella (Playing for Real releases Feb 4th), and completed a novel that released this week (Her Royal Masquerade). I am currently writing the follow up, Her Royal Bodyguard, and my goal is to have the first draft finished by the end of the year.
I guess that’s the long way of saying, “Yes.”

Who or what has been your biggest influence as a writer?

Wow. That’s hard to say. I’ve been reading since forever, have been writing almost nearly that long and I’ve probably been influenced by every book I’ve ever read. I started writing mysteries when I was still in school, because that’s what I read. I loved Phyllis A Whitney back then. I gave up the idea of writing mysteries when I discovered romance, but some of her books had a real gothic flavor and that’s probably what got me interested in romance in the first place.

How long does it take you to write a 50-60,000 word manuscript?

None of them are exactly the same. Some stories just flow better than others. A general answer would probably be about 3 months. The last book I wrote took about that long but during those 12 weeks I also revised and resubmitted two manuscripts and completed edits on a third.

Blurb:

Time is running out for Prince Vittorio. His father’s health is failing and he must find a royal bride. Fast. He’s never forgotten his glimpse of a beautiful Scandinavian princess and lures her to his Mediterranean country with an invitation to his father’s birthday ball. He’d planned to propose a marriage agreement as cold as her icy reputation, but then he discovers she's as colorful and warm as a summer sunset. The heat between them flares red-hot and when she allows him to seduce her, Vittorio sees his future unfolding just as he had planned. But what he doesn’t know is that the woman in his bed is not a princess at all.

The last thing schoolteacher Mia Holmberg expects when she masquerades as her royal cousin is to be swept off her feet by a charming prince. The incredible night in Vittorio’s arms is like a fairy tale come true, but she’d never want the life of a real princess, with all its pomp and politics. Knowing they can never have a future together, she slips out of his bed and back to reality, where she belongs.

But Vittorio discovers the deception and kidnaps Mia back to his palace, demanding she be his mistress until the real princess appears. Despite her attempts to stay aloof, Mia soon learns there’s more to the prince than arrogance and attitude, but now she’s in danger of falling in love with a man she can never have.

Excerpt:

Mia sipped her champagne and tried not to be affected by the man sitting next to her. He was so…so everything. Charming. Gorgeous. Commanding. Seductive. One dance and she hadn’t been able to control her reaction to him. What had made her press against him like that?
To rub against his obvious erection? With a man she’d only known a few minutes. She was certain even Birgitte wouldn’t have been that forward.
She’d had to get off the dance floor, had to get out of his arms before she did something outrageous like beg him to take her to some dark corner and ease the ache he was causing within her. But tonight she was Birgitte. No free pass at this ball. She had to act the princess.
But she longed to be out on the dance floor again. The music was so stirring. She found herself swaying with the beat of the song. The ballad was one she didn’t recognize, one she’d certainly never heard back home. The melody called to her on a visceral level. There was no logical reason why. Music was that way sometimes. It couldn’t have anything to do with Vittorio.
“What are you thinking?” he asked softly, leaning over to murmur the question softly in her ear.
“Simply enjoying the music,” she replied, trying to ignore the delightful shiver caused by the whisper of his warm breath along her skin.
He slipped his arm over the top of her chair, letting his fingers brush her bare shoulders.
Just a simple touch like that sent her heart racing. “Would you like to dance again?” he asked in a seductive tone that suggested he might be talking about more than just a dance.
“I’m not sure I dare,” she admitted, keeping her gaze on the musicians.
“Oh?” With one finger, he touched her chin and turned her face his way. He shot her a wickedly sexy grin. “You don’t seem to be the type to back away from a challenge.”
She leaned back against his warm arm. She couldn’t help herself. “So I should consider another dance with you as a challenge?”
One lazy finger traced circles on her bare shoulder, teasing a shiver to run along her skin. “For me, the challenge will be pretending I have no more interest in you than any other guest at the palace tonight.”
Mia swallowed to moisten her suddenly dry mouth. Pretending she was Birgitte made it slightly easier for her to hold his gaze and slowly smile. “And what interest do you have in the princess of Stagatland?”
“I assure you, my interest in you is strictly as a beautiful, enticing woman. That you are the lovely princess is simply an additional benefit.”
She knew better. He wouldn’t be flirting with her if he knew she was a commoner, no one of importance. If he ever saw her in her usual outfits, the bulky sweaters and heavy boots, he wouldn’t look at her twice. The knowledge should have upset her, but it had been a fact of life for her since she was old enough to realize that her cousin was treated differently than she was. Mia had always had to step back and let Birgitte have all the attention, no matter if it was a royal affair or simply a family gathering.
To be called beautiful and enticing by such a handsome, charming man gave her often bruised ego a boost. What harm would it do to soak up an easy compliment? He probably tossed them away like crumbs to the birds. A man such as Prince Vittorio surely had had his choice of beautiful women over the years. He knew how to charm. Seduce. She told herself she could enjoy it without making more of it than what was intended.
Birgitte would probably take the compliment as her due. No sense gushing over the flattering remarks. She was a princess. Act like it, she admonished herself.
“I suppose I could take a chance and join you on the dance floor once more,” she said, trying to keep her tone light and flirty, and not betray the fact that she was aching to be back in his arms again.
“I like a woman who’s willing to take a risk.” The faint lines at the corners of his eyes crinkled with his smile and she wanted to reach out and brush her finger over them. Oh, she liked him. More than she should.
Grab the moment, Mia. Tomorrow you’ll be back home, shivering from the freezing cold instead of the arousing touch of a handsome prince.
Vittorio rose and graciously helped her to her feet. His commanding presence threatened to take her breath away. How could she resist him at all?
